Original Homing Text

2 year old, male, grey, short hair cat.

Please say hello to Abs who came to us unwanted and infested with flea's and ticks.

On his arrival Abs was neutered, de-flea 'd and ticks removed and a thorough check over from our veterinary surgeons.

Abs' story is quite typical of many of the cats that come into Sunny Harbour, an unwanted cat his previous owner couldn't 'get rid' of.

Although sketchy from what little background we know of Abs he has remained a mainly outdoors cat, in the most part, we believe anyway, due to rough handling and a home just too noisy and bustly for this wee fella.

Abs - 2 yr old male neutered catSince Abs came to stay with us he has settled in well and following his neutering is enjoying some cuddles and pampering. We believe that given the right home and someone with patience and understanding that Abs will open up to become a very affectionate, loving companion cat.

He is desperate for attention and cuddles but is wary of humans if you approach him too quickly or he thinks you are going to make a 'grab' for him. That said, we do believe that given a fairly short period of time this wee cat will grow in confidence and blossom into a wonderful companion.

All that Abs needs is someone to show him love and the patience to allow him to progress at a pace he can adjust to. Initially we would advise an indoor home for Abs with a view to outdoor access once he has settled in and has accepted his new home.

We would like to find Abs a home of his own with no young children. Dogs are unknown however he we feel he would be fine with other cats as he shows no sign of aggression towards them.

Abs - 2 year old male cat looking for loveUpdate: 21 /08/08

Abs has now been with us for approx 3 weeks and is doing brilliantly. He is growing in confidence and not as scared as he was, even allowing me to lift him the other day to put him to bed!

His food guarding has become much better and he no longer gorges himself on all food in sight as he has now realised that he will get food again later and no-one will take it from him. We have also been introducing Abs into playing and toys and he seems to enjoy this and is learning more every day.

We would really love to find Abs a new home soon, he is such an affectionate little cat and shown the right love and attention will make a wonderful companion. He would very much like a place to call his own home and the freedom to pop out into the garden and come back for cuddles.

Abs has now found his forever home and we are awaiting news of his progress.

Update: 06/09/08

We have received the following from Abs:

"Hi Sarah,

I've been at my new home for a week now, and I've settled in really well. I don't have a runny eye anymore and i'm exploring the house. My bed in the kitchen is really comfy and cosy and i love my cat milk.
I like to look out of the windows and lie on the sofa. I also like to lie on my new family's knees and snooze !

Here are some photo's of me at my new home.

Love Abs.
"

(Ab's runny eye was a stress reaction that reared its head when he arrived with us at Sunny Harbour Cat & Kitten Rescue so we are thrilled to hear that in just a little over a week he is feeling comfortable and no longer stressed. You may remember that Ab's mum Maya shared a similar problem with her skin on her arrival.)

Abs all cosy in his very own bed! Abs having cuddles!

Sleepy Abs in cat heaven!

All of us here at Sunny Harbour Cat & Kitten Rescue are over the moon with Abs' progress. He is doing brilliantly well and his confidence seems to go from strength to strength. We very much look forward to the next update from Abs!
