October 2008 - Newsletter!!

Welcome to the rather late October newsletter of Sunny Harbour Cat & Kitten Rescue. If you are having difficulty viewing our newsletter you can view it online by clicking here.

The last couple of months have been exceptionally hectic here at the rescue. Our last count was a whopping 38 cats helped in the last 2 months many of which have come and gone and not even made it to our website as we have been so busy!

It would appear that September and October have been a time when there is an upsurge in the number of calls for cats to be brought in as owners are emigrating. However we do take the huge number with a degree of scepticism with belief that this is the current 'rumour' on how to twist the arm of a rescue to take your cats. Although as always the one major drawback to this is that if we are full we can't take them in despite how hard they try to argue with us!!!!

Paul & Sarah on holiday for the first time in years!!As some of you may also be aware Paul & I took a very well earned rest and took 2 weeks out for some much needed R&R. We both had a wonderful time in Egypt and have returned relaxed and ready to battle the challenges ahead!

Although we must confess that we missed all our little 4 legged friends immensely and in our time in Egypt we only saw 1 cat!! Talk about withdrawl symptoms! lol

However holiday time is very much over as we get back in to the swing of things and catch up on the mountain of paperwork and calls that have built up in our absence. Already we have 3 more cats coming in this week looking for new homes which will all be arriving in the next few days.

On a positive homing note however we were thrilled to find a placement for Cheeky and Lulu just prior to our trip away, which was fabulous news as they had been with us for a while.

On our return we have also found a perfect placement for Cheeky & Smokey the 2 handsome gentlemen so we hope this luck in homing will continue!

I hope you will enjoy the content in this months Newsletter and as always we welcome comments and feedback!

Worrying Trends in the Free Ads

A couple of newsletters ago we talked about the many kitten farms using the free ads as a means to 'sell' their kittens many of which are in very poor health and have received no veterinary care or basic worming medications.

I came accross the following article on the web and it would appear that these farms too have heeded the advice of the professionals and are adapting their tactics to suit! :(

The article can be reached by clicking here.

2009 Calendars

We have managed to get in stock some calendars for 2009. These are a mix of cat / kitten and dog calendars and we hope to have them available in the shop for sale in the next few days.

There are 2 types including the usual turnover type for wall hanging and a diary and calendar duo. Prices start at just £2.50 +P&P for the turnover and £3.50 +P&P for the Diary and Calendar duo with all funds going directly to Sunny Harbour.

We also have a small selection of items in our shop for both cats and humans and hope to add more in the next couple of weeks.

If you would like more details in the meantime then please call the office on 01592 783732 or contact us by email.

Easy Search Logo

What is Easy Search?

Easysearch is the free search facility provided by EasyFundraising.org to allow Sunny Harbour Cat & Kitten Rescue to earn a commission donation from every time you use their search tool to search the internet.

By clicking on the sponsored links in the search results easysearch generates a cash donation to SunnyHarbour Cat & Kitten Rescue at no cost to you. On average every time you search using our search tool you raise 0.5p for the cats at Sunny Harbour. So if you performed 30 searches per week you would raise 15p for Sunny Harbour. It doesn't seem a lot but if we all do this over the course of the year it could turn into several hundreds of pounds.

The easysearch facility searches for the best results from Yahoo!, Ask and MSN Live Search in one window for faster searching and effortless fundraising for all the cats and kittens in our care throughout the year.
